CORE SAM WORKSTREAMS DELIVERED

Client Snapshot: Three global enterprises — a leading private-sector bank, a global automobile major, and a leading insurance company — each running a complex hybrid IT landscape spanning Microsoft, Oracle, IBM, Adobe and several niche application providers, with 50,000+ endpoints, 1,000+ servers and operations across 50–100 locations worldwide.

The Challenge

None of the three organizations had a streamlined Software Asset Management function or dedicated in-house licensing skills. SNOW and Flexera were already deployed but inaccurately configured, leaving no reliable visibility into software consumption or compliance posture. Internal silos between IT, Procurement and Governance teams compounded the problem, and each client carried high audit exposure alongside uncontrolled software spend — with no consistent process to catch either before it became a cost.

Our Approach

Managed SAM Services

Rizen deployed its Managed SAM Services on a 1–3 year engagement at each client, running its five-phase Managed SAM Framework — Baseline, Assessment, Automation, Optimization and Strategy — to move every organization from reactive compliance firefighting to a proactive, governed SAM function. SNOW/Flexera tooling was paired with Rizen's proprietary discovery scripts to reconcile inventory and correct configuration; a continuously maintained license entitlement repository and Power BI compliance reporting were built out across every major publisher; and renewal calendars, unused-software reporting and negotiation strategy were layered in to turn SAM into an ongoing, governed, cost-saving function.

The Results

$20M+ in cost and risk avoided: across the three engagements combined, Rizen's Managed SAM Services delivered more than $20 million in compliance risk mitigation and cost savings.

Visibility gap closed: SNOW plus Rizen's proprietary scripts, inventory reconciliation, cloud discovery reconciliation and coverage monitoring gave every client accurate, real-time visibility into software consumption for the first time.

Compliance reporting institutionalized: a continuously maintained license entitlement repository, Power BI compliance dashboards, EOL/EOS tracking and denied-software reporting replaced ad hoc, reactive compliance checks.

Cost optimization built in: renewal calendars, unused-software reporting and negotiation strategy turned SAM from a cost center into a measurable savings driver.

License optimization & governance established: a fully Managed SAM function — with formal SAM policy, process controls and management reporting — now drives key licensing decisions at each organization.

A repeatable model across industries: the same Managed SAM Framework delivered comparable outcomes for a bank, an automobile major and an insurance company — proof the approach scales across sectors and estate complexity.
